The deadline to apply for priority certification ended last week
More than 800 potential marijuana businesses have submitted at least partial applications for priority certification, which would give them a leg up in applying for a recreational license.
Three-quarters of them are economic empowerment applicants, from areas that have been disproportionately affected by marijuana enforcement. The rest are registered marijuana dispensaries.
The deadline to apply for priority certification ended last week. This is a category that allows certain businesses to apply for a license now, rather than waiting until May 1 or June 1, depending on the type of business. It also means that whenever they submit a license application, their application will be considered more quickly.
