Sevenpoint Interiors Brings Art Deco Vibrancy & Sophistication To DTLA With Green Qween

DTLA welcomes its first LGBTQIA+ and POC community-focused cannabis dispensary

Green Qween’s (www.thegreenqween.com) passionate business partners and co-founders Andrés Rigal and Taylor Bazley were awarded the only social equity license out of 40 applications to open a cannabis dispensary in Los Angeles’ bustling DTLA community. The duo quickly collaborated with cannabis design and manufacturing firm SevenPoint Interiors (www.sevenpointinteriors.com) to create a welcoming brick & mortar retail space that compliments the local architecture, while serving as a destination location for cannabis enthusiasts of all stripes. A division of Visual Elements Manufacturing (www.visual-elements.ca), SevenPoint Interiors is known for creating unique and memorable cannabis retail environments and was recently awarded Best Retail Interior Design at the 2022 O’Cannabiz Industry Awards.

SevenPoint Interiors (SPI) personifies a brand’s vision through thoughtfully curated interior spaces. Rigal and Bazley wanted to achieve the perfect balance between a tasteful celebration of the structure’s aesthetic heritage, the required functionality of a cannabis retail operation, and the elevated aesthetics of the local community that represents DTLA. When they approached SPI with this opportunity, the team of retail design experts skillfully created the concept to promote an open opportunity to interact with multiple vendors through a cohesive visual experience. Unified by repetitive dimensional geometry, iridescent finishes, and a serene retrofuture aesthetic.

“We absolutely enjoyed working with Andres and Taylor at Green Qween,” says the SevenPoint Interiors team. “From the beginning, this was a collaborative partnership, and we are very happy to have the creative freedom to bring their vision, voice, and expression of the dispensary to life while also preserving the history of the space.”

Originally built as a bank in the 1930s, Green Qween occupies a historic Art Deco building in the trending South Park neighborhood, accentuating the structure’s architectural elements. As guests open the doors to the dispensary, they are instantly transported into a vivacious atmosphere, greeted with friendly budtenders and festive music as you would at a popular Los Angeles day party. Bopping along the expertly crafted vibrant display cases that hold many BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ brands, their gaze is captured by the grandiose disco ball embedded into the back wall, evoking a feeling of happiness and a sense of lightness to the air, welcoming you with pride. Although rainbows are not covering every surface of the dispensary, dichroic accents paint the space with a prism of light throughout the day. The refreshing apricot and tranquil blue palette are punctuated with clean white details, spread across rounded, Oz-like forms, finished with custom designed fixtures.

“Working with SevenPoint Interiors has been amazing. They listened to my vision and helped shape and focus the color and design elements to achieve the bright and inviting space that we have today,” says Green Qween co-founder Andrés Rigal. “Inspired by 1980s Miami and South Beach, they helped to make Green Qween a must-see modern deco dispensary in downtown LA.”

As Green Qween takes its place on the chessboard of the Los Angeles retail scene, Rigal and Bazley have committed themselves to give back to the community that was so instrumental in helping them get to this point. Together, SevenPoint Interiors and Green Qween created a space that celebrates expression as much as the queer community it serves, solidifying their position in cannabis as a vehicle for change in the LGBTQIA+ community. Green Qween gives emerging QTBIPOC startup brands a retail experience that allows them to have their products tested in the marketplace and to allow for customer discovery. In addition to being an equal opportunity employer, Green Qween recruits from the QTBIPOC community to provide job access to a diverse cross-section of individuals. Green Qween also provides an annual percentage of proceeds to a non-profit that offers direct care to the QTBIPOC community.
