Nestled just a couple blocks from the world famous Sunset Strip, Exhale Med Center sits tucked away inside of a building, hidden amongst a maze of doors in an inside strip mall kind of setting. On the side street (where most people park) is even an information booth with a staff member ready to answer any of your questions prior to your arrival at Exhale. Rounding the building, you are directed by a sign through a hall with a glass door and kind of finding my way from there to the courtyard and frosted glass with the logo. Checking in at reception was nice, and had an almost small art gallery vibe to it. It didn’t feel too cramped and the lights were turned down which was a nice touch. There is water for the patients, and plenty of chairs so it didn’t feel cramped despite there being quite a few people waiting to enter the budroom. The forms and verification were quick and the staff was polite throughout the process and I didn’t feel like the staff was stressed despite the heavy workload. The wait to get into the budroom awhile however, as the size of the budroom only allowed for maybe 10 inside at a time while still maintaining security and control over it and I picked a particularly busy day to go. Once I was good to go I was guided through the door next to the reception desk and I walked in.

Upon entering the budroom I was immediately impressed by the way the simple and clean aesthetic of the dispensary. It was minimalistic and to the point. It had 2 POS stations on either end for service and had the budtenders all in white lab coats to complete the aesthetic. They had flower and some edibles displayed to the left of the entrance and had accessories and more on the other side. Refrigerated edibles were in a branded fridge as well as below the budtender, and they had a wide assortment of products for the consumer to choose from. The flower was in neatly displayed jars, each labeled with the price breakdown, strain, genetics, and species as well as an informational snippet. This level of dedication and care to the patient is appreciated by consumers that want to know what they are taking in if they are trying to experiment with medical effectiveness. The problem herein is that these jars were not smell jars, they were half Petri dishes that caused the bud to dry out. When smelling the cannabis as a patient, the budtender would use distribution jars, thus drying out your main distribution stock every time a consumer wants to take a whiff instead of a smaller small jar for the consumer and then a distribution stock that is kept fresh and only opened when a sale is made. This will cut down in shrink by dryness and will give an overall better quality product for the consumer. I don’t think the cannabis was bad, just not as fresh as it would have otherwise been had they had a separate jar for smelling then what they sold to the consumer.

In the end, I settled on Lambs Bread and Durban Poison, 2 classics that you can never go wrong with and I was not let down. The cannabis was of good quality and was free of any issues that I could see. Quality here is paramount, and Essence has a lot of good going for it. I believe that if they get smell jars for people simply sampling multiple products for smell before settling on one, this will really help contain the freshness of the overall batch and save weight over time. I also think they should consider knocking out a second exit door back into the lobby to the left of the TV nearer to the entrance. This will help prevent a bottlenecking in high traffic situations. I also think they should go for a social use license as the building looks perfect for a lounge. All in all a good experience that I think will only get better.
