Bigger is better right? That’s how the old saying goes anyway, and we decided to put the old adage to the test by checking out Cookies LA, the premier cannabis dispensary in Maywood California brought to you by the Bay Area rapper, Berner. This MASSIVE 25,000 square foot seed to sale factory is easily the largest dispensary in the country. Cookies is located a bit off the beaten path in Maywood, but once you arrive you definitely know you are in the right place from the high visibility building. We pulled into the fairly sizeable parking lot, and proceeded to walk up to the building into what was one of the most spacious lobbies i’ve ever been in.

Bright, well lit, and with a massive Cookies logo on the wall, it was honestly NOT what I expected walking in. Everything within the lobby was well kept, extremely clean, and organized. When you hear of a rappers dispensary opening up in south east LA, high end is not exactly what you picture. This was the direct opposite of that very assumption as everything in Cookies LA was made to resemble the same experiences you would get at any high end shop in Los Angeles. The even the ceilings didn’t escape the design process as they had clouds painted throughout, beautiful art of cannabis on the walls, plants on clean tables, it was a beautiful lobby. The front desk staff is located to your left upon entry into the building, and at the time I arrived they looked like someone new was getting trained. Both people behind the counter were very friendly upon approaching the window and promptly asked if I was first time and if I was medical or not. I handed over my ID and paperwork, and began to work on the forms required for medical patients and explained I was first time. I took a clipboard and sat down in an extremely comfortable chair to the paperwork which went quick. I handed it back in, and before I knew it within minutes I was walking back into the budroom.

I was floored by the cleanliness of the shop and the thoughtfulness put into the layout. The design was clearly well planned out, and the extremely bright LED menu’s, complemented by art gallery track lighting, gives the entire ambience of the shop the utmost sense of professionalism. Everything had its place, and was well organized. The only thing that felt a bit off was the fridge with drinks being at the entrance facing towards the budroom. It’s hard to notice until you are leaving, after which its too late to easily capture the sale. The shelving was well organized for flower with 8ths and grams as well as strains clearly labeled, concentrates and edibles stacked neatly, and all was properly accented by the track lighting above.  The methodology in which they are organized also appears to be well known to the staff as the budtender was quick to find the 2 strains I settled on. One of the strains however, Blue Cream, she was unable to tell me the genetics of it which led me to ask about some of the other strains, which she also wasn’t too sure on. I purchased Blue Cream and Pina Colada, both grown on site and both FANTASTIC strains, received my smell proof bag and proceeded to leave. I was a bit dismayed at the security guard in the budroom, who seemed to be upset or just off-putting. Not a single smile or word just pointed towards the exit when I was leaving. I found it a bit rude, but was warmly thanked upon exit and told to have a good one by everyone but him. The floor staff, security included, are essential customer service representatives for your company. Security doesn’t have to be overly friendly, but he shouldn’t be dismissive or aggressive towards every day customers. I also found it odd the receipt had a website that didn’t work listed on it, www.cookies la.com which either wasn’t meant to have a space or has a hyphen that was left out. I checked both out and neither worked, and the only registered email on the receipt is a gmail account. I want to give them a higher score, but this was sloppy on their part, especially having such a beautiful operation otherwise. Having accurate information on your receipt is imperative, as well as operating a working website. Taking questions from a non branded gmail account also just isn’t professional in this stage in the industry. Other than that, this was a fantastically ran operation, and I look forward to visiting again soon.
