We find out if FZT in west Portland makes the grade
Name: Five Zero Trees, West Portland Location
Location: 5336 SW Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy. Portland, OR 97221
The pacific northwest has no shortages of dispensaries. Any quick browse on your preferred listing (Leafly, WeedMaps, ext..) would quickly show you that Portland and Seattle are basically Los Angeles with snow during the winter. So how do shops in the great northwest stand out from the background noise? We took a journey to Five Zero Trees West Portland location to see how they are able to set themselves apart. Upon pulling up to the store the first thing that we noticed was this store took careful attention of picking a place where they wouldn’t get lost in the background. A full parking lot and storefront to themselves ensures getting the spotlight from passing customers, especially with the high visibility sign out front. I will say, that the outside aesthetic and inside aesthetic could not be more different. From the outside, this could easily be mistaken for a coffee shop or boutique sporting goods store. From the inside, it took on the aesthetic of a high-end co-working space or design agency. LOTS of glossed wood paneling and light tracking seek to make every inch of this lobby pop. Since there was no one inside, this was a quick and easy process of just showing my ID and being let through the glass doors. The receptionist was ultra friendly, though we didn’t have time to see if they offered menu’s in the lobby or any other best practices due to the zero wait time.
Upon entering the budroom, the aesthetic continued to impress. The layout was clean and form functional and allowed for browsing by the patient/consumer. We did notice a fairly large assortment of accessories being sold at this location, which is surprising given the nature of most dispensaries. The budtender assured me they sell quite a bit of accessories, and are always having to restock. I’m not sure if it was hyperbole or factual, but the sheer inventory size would hope they are leaning towards the later. I was equally impressed with their assortment in the diversity of products offered. No matter what we were looking for, we could find some variant that could achieve our goals. This also spoke to the knowledge of the budtender in being able to not only understand strains, but also knowing the genetics behind the strains to offer viable alternatives. For instance, in one question we asked about Tangie for a nice relaxing creative high, and while they didn’t have Tangie on hand the budtender was quick to point out their 24K Gold variant which is simply Tangie crossed with Kosher Kush.
