Colorado Marijuana Sales Hold Steady In June, But Still Historically Low
The June sales numbers aren’t exactly a full-on rebound
The Colorado marijuana market may finally be stabilizing after months of plummeting sales, according to the latest data from the state Department of Revenue.
Sales in June held steady from May, ticking up slightly to $113.7 million from $113.1 million, after months of repeated bad news for Colorado cannabis retailers who have been stuck in a downward spiral.
Still, the June sales numbers aren’t exactly a full-on rebound and are the worst figures for any Colorado June since 2016, when marijuana shops sold $106 million, according to the state Department of Revenue. That’s a trend that has been ongoing through much of 2024.
Sales figures for 2020 and 2021 likely received a boost from economic and consumer behavior shifts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, however sales have continued to decline as broader conditions have normalized.
The $113 million per month number – now back-to-back for May and June – is also the second-worst sales tally in recent memory, only ahead of the $110 million posted in November last year.
