Ex-Curaleaf Exec Says Company Ignored Problems At Illinois Cannabis Facility
Curaleaf, based in Connecticut, is one of the biggest cannabis companies in the U.S.
A former Curaleaf employee claims conditions at the marijuana behemoth’s Litchfield cultivation facility were ripe for black market diversion — and that he was fired for raising concerns, according to a lawsuit filed in federal court.
The suit, filed by Curaleaf’s ex-regional compliance director Matthew Kalmick of Chicago, claims state regulators noted multiple issues at the Litchfield grow facility, including potential systemic theft, a cut perimeter fence and inventory issues.
Curaleaf, based in Connecticut, is one of the biggest cannabis companies in the U.S. and has 10 cannabis dispensaries in Illinois and the 110,000-square-foot Litchfield grow facility. The lawsuit repeatedly suggests conditions at the cultivation facility — due to a general lack of corporate oversight — were ripe for misdeeds.
