Nevada Regulators Award State’s First Marijuana Consumption Lounge Licenses In Lottery Drawings
The state’s first 40 cannabis consumption lounge licensees are out
Nevada marijuana regulators announced the winners of the state’s first 40 cannabis consumption lounge licensees on Wednesday.
Twenty were awarded in lotteries to new independent businesses, with half of those going to social equity applicants. The other 20 are for existing cannabis retailers that will be opening up social use areas.
The state Cannabis Compliance Board (CCB) announced the lotteries last week, saying it would be holding “two drawings via a random number selector.” Regulators say they expect the first lounges to open in the “first half of 2023.”
CCB said earlier this month that they received about 100 applications for the new license type during a 10-day application window in October.
