Airfield Supply Company is located just down the street from the San Jose Airport which is where it derives its title and aesthetic from. They have clear marking on the outside of the building and is easy to see without being overbearing upon its neighbors. The outside was well kept, and had an easy one-way entrance on one side of the building, with the exit being the opposite side of the building creating a directional wrap to avoid confusion of incoming and outgoing patients during high traffic times. Plenty of parking was available, and the entrance had a clear design choice resembling the entrance to an airport. Upon entering Airfield Supply Company, I was warmly greeted by two front desk assistants. The look and feel of the lobby was a clean design choice resembling an airport check-in experience, with an easy patient flow and enough space and seating for a good number of patients to be comfortable. The experience was made complete with actual airport gate seating along the wall. Sign in was a breeze using the www.Treez.io system, and within 3 minutes I was handed an actual printed boarding pass for SJC (San Jose California) assigned Seat 26B, and headed to the budroom. Once inside the budroom, the full airport experience continued.
It’s rare this day and age, to see a dispensary make every attempt to go the extra mile for their patients. The ground was painted to resemble a runway and taxiway, Easy to understand menu selections, graded in price by seat class (Economy, Economy +, Business Class, First Class) and a lineup of all available flower in clear display ranked by species with a full compliment of edibles, clones, tinctures, and accessories. Each of the strains was available for viewing/smelling in a beautifully contained jar, with backing that contained the strain information, species dominance information, and testing information for THC and CBD. The entire experience was clearly explained to me by a budtender who knew her products well. They also had several clones available, which all looked to be young, healthy, and in well-kept shape. For a first time patient deal, my boarding pass was torn along the perforation, just like an actual boarding pass leaving me with a stub for an upgrade in seating class for a future eighth. The current pass entitles the ‘flyer’ to a complimentary cookie (which they had flavors both in Indica and Sativa varieties) that came in premium packaging, or top shelf pre-roll.
For flower choices, everything was fresh and fantastic. My only gripe, is lack of strain diversification. At my time of visiting, they only had around 18 strains, which only gave me 5-6 options on any given species, which left the hybrid section as the main strength. While this is a personal quip, it is absolutely understandable as they have a strict quality control and work close in hand with only a select number of partners on their cloning operations. I opted for First Class and went with Jack Herer and a Girl Scout Cookies Blue Cut, both of which came in fantastically designed bottles that contained the lot number of the flower, strain information, class (price), THC, CBD, and weight information all on a clearly displayed label. They even maintain the aesthetic by shortening strain names in bold at the top to abbreviations, Jack Herer, for instance, was JKH in keeping with the airport theme with the full name in smaller print below. A clean design for the medicine bottles was followed up by a black smell proof bag with a locking tab. On the front of the black bag was emboldened with their logo in gold. One of the lesser known things is that Airfield Supply Company hosts on-site events for its members from time to time including free acupuncture and chair massage sessions, as well as food trucks, product demonstrations, and more. I was extremely pleased with the Airfield Supply Company retail experience, at no time did I feel like I was in a ‘dispensary’ and I hope they expand their operations in the future.
