Cannabis Sales In Mass. Surpass $2 Billion In Gross Sales In Under 3 Years
The state’s marijuana establishments surpassed the $2 billion mark on Tuesday
In less than three years, the adult-use marijuana establishments in Massachusetts surpassed $2 billion in gross sales, according to the state’s Cannabis Control Commission.
Wednesday marks the fourth anniversary of the creation of the Commission. The state’s marijuana establishments surpassed the $2 billion mark on Tuesday, Aug. 31, less than one year since establishments passed the $1 billion mark.
“As the Commission turns four years old today, I am proud of the growth we have shown within the agency and throughout the Massachusetts cannabis industry,” Commission Executive Director, Shawn Collins, said. “This milestone speaks to the success of licensees that have worked with the Commission from the application stage, maintained compliance with our regulations, and contribute every day to communities across the Commonwealth. This number also underscores the entire agency’s tireless efforts to thoughtfully regulate a safe, accessible, and effective adult-use marketplace that keeps critical tenets of our mission – public health, public safety, and equity, among others – front of mind.”
