“CAES is not taking oversight of cannabis testing from DCP”
Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station’s role in cannabis testing is expanding with a new reference lab that will help state regulators check private laboratories and investigate potential safety concerns.
“CAES is not taking oversight of cannabis testing from DCP,” said Kaitlyn Krasselt, spokesperson for the state Department of Consumer Protection.
Recreational cannabis legislation in 2021 contemplated a role for CAES in helping DCP with enforcement and quality assurance of licensed laboratories and cannabis products, she said, often as a “reference lab.”
