Cannabis Dispensary Limits In Menominee, Michigan, Is Valid, Judge Rules
Puff Cannabis contended it should have been allowed to open last year
A limit on the number of marijuana dispensaries in Menominee is valid, a judge ruled Friday, as she confirmed previous rulings in the case dismissing one store’s attempt to get a court order allowing it to open.
In November, 78% of Menominee residents voted to cap the number of marijuana dispensaries in the city at nine. Eight are currently open. Other firms besides Puff are also seeking licenses. Michigan municipalities share in the tax revenue generated by such stores. In 2025, the city and county of Menominee each received $432,000.
Puff Cannabis contended it should have been allowed to open last year, but the city of Menominee, Michigan, did not issue a license as it should have. The city said it followed the proper procedures.
