Alabama Medical Cannabis Commissioner Jerzy Szaflarski Resigns

Szaflarski was appointed to the AMCC in September 2021

Dr. Jerzy Szaflarski, a member of the Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission (AMCC), resigned from the AMCC on Friday.

Szaflarski, an M.D. and Ph.D. with the UAB School of Medicine, is a professor and the director of the Division of Epilepsy. He also directs the Level IV UAB Epilepsy Center.

Szaflarski was appointed to the AMCC in September 2021.

“We received Dr. Jerzy Szaflarski’s resignation from the Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission on April 5, 2024. The effective date of his resignation is April 15, 2024. He stated that he is resigning from the Commission due to multiple time constraints imposed by his current position,” Brittany Peters, a spokeswoman for the AMCC, told 1819 News on Monday.
