Nebraska Medical Cannabis Cultivators Call For Changes To Lab Testing, Fees, Physician Protections
Nebraska’s four licensed medical cannabis cultivators are pushing for changes
Nebraska’s four licensed medical cannabis cultivators are pushing for changes to testing, fees and legal protections for healthcare providers as questions loom over when the fledgling program will provide for legal sales.
Representatives for the four licensed cultivators sent a joint letter to the Nebraska Medical Cannabis Commission on Oct. 15 urging the commission to consider the licensing and availability of cannabis testing laboratories and the assessment of fees before the cultivators even have a “viable path to revenue.”
Dustin Krajewski of Meadowlark Medicinals LLC, former state Sen. Kent Rogert of KRL Med LLC, Pat Thomas of MahāMotā Cultivation Co. and Robert Wagner of Midwest Cultivators Group signed the letter.
Under the commission’s regulations, only four cultivators can be licensed.
An uncertain supply chain
MahāMotā, near Raymond, moved ahead with planting despite delays from the commission.
The Legislature did not authorize the commission to assess fees until April, and the commission had already been working to finalize a prior set of regulations. The commission is refusing to grant more licenses until it can assess fees for future licenses.
