New Mexico Cannabis Business Leaders Say State Tracking System Is Causing Problems
Regulation and Licensing said that they can’t comment because of ongoing litigation
The New Mexico cannabis industry said a new state-required tracking system is causing massive problems. The “Seed-to-Sale” system was put in place last month, but during a legislative meeting today, business leaders say it hasn’t been helpful. “For businesses, it’s been really a disaster,” said Matt Kennicott.
Cannabis business leaders told lawmakers that a recently implemented tracking system has come with major issues. The industry has been required to have tracking systems in place for years in order to manage product across the state. In September, the state switched from using the “Biotrack System” to one called New Mexico Seed to Sale.
Industry leaders said it has been a rocky transition. “This system has added more manual data entry, which means more man-hours and more manpower for these businesses that they have to spend on. So for example, when they moved the data over from the old system to the new system, a lot of that data had to be manually reconciled,” said Kennicott.
