Three Marijuana Bills Head To Tennessee Legislature Next Week

1 is legalization, 2 are ballot questions about medical marijuana

Next week, three bills addressing marijuana legalization in Tennessee will go before their committees. One bill seeks legalization for recreation use, while the other two would create a ballot question on the November election that would gauge Tennesseans’ interest in medical marijuana.

SB2440: Pot for Potholes

The recreational use bill is called “pot for potholes.” It was proposed last year and failed at this exact stage.

The bill would legalize marijuana for people 21 and older and charge a 15% excise tax to fund state and local road and bridge repairs in Tennessee.

SB2440 is scheduled to go before the Senate Judiciary Committee on March 23.
