New Orleans’ French Quarter Gets Its First-Ever Marijuana Dispensary
‘I’m speechless’
A brass band, feathered showgirls and brightly beaded Mardi Gras Indians brought the party to Bourbon Street on Wednesday morning, but it wasn’t for a wedding or a bachelor party — or anything to do with boozing on New Orleans’ most popular path for partygoers.
The French Quarter’s first-ever cannabis dispensary opened its doors to customers in a 100-year-old building at 433 Bourbon St., offering three stories of edibles, vapes, cannabis flower as well as features like a third-floor gallery, theater experience and terpene smell bar.
Unlike traditional dispensaries in other states, Louisiana law allows both locals and out-of-state visitors to meet with a telehealth clinician on-site and, if approved, purchase medical cannabis that day. The process takes up to 10 minutes and out-of-state medical cards are accepted, said Emily Diament, public relations coordinator for NOLA Cannabis Co.
